The word "sister" denotes a
relationship of equals sharing a common parent, family members whose
gifts and talents may be different but who bring those talents
together to enrich the family.
The people of Blessed Sacrament Catholic
Community, in familial relationship with the people of San Marcos’
community, are nourished by experiencing each other’s cultures and
are able to grow together in Christ through prayer and mutual
support. In sharing each other’s joys and sorrows, struggles and
triumphs, the two communities become united.
We have much to learn from each other: the value
of family, the celebration of our differences, and a new vision of
faith in our universal church.
In our relationship with the people of Gracias we
have witnessed their passion for following the Gospel; their
unwavering conviction that enables them to reach beyond hardships;
the joy and the dignity that come from their understanding that they
are children of God.
We in turn provide a community to stand with them
in friendship and solidarity and to assist in their mission to
proclaim, to teach and to live the word of God.
Sister Parish Prayer
Dear God, Creator, Redeemer and Sanctifier of all
peoples, we the members of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Community in
Alexandria, VA and the parish of San Marcos in Gracias, Lempira,
Honduras, seek to give you glory and honor in all that we
are and all that we do.
In the name of Jesus, your crucified yet risen
Son, we ask a special outpouring of your Holy Spirit upon our two
communities that we may be a source of inspiration for each other
and a light to the two different worlds in which we live.
Grant to us the gift of a deepening faith and
hearts of compassion and generosity. Grant to us the strength to
walk in the radiance of Jesus through the darkness and pain of our
deprivation and injustice.
Grant that we may rejoice as sister communities
in the Church, and together proclaim to all who would see or hear
that JESUS CHRIST IS LORD! Amen

La palabra ‘’hermana’‘ significa una
relación entre personas con igualdad, con un mismo parentesco,
miembros de una familia, que a pesar de tener dones y talentos
diferentes, unen esos talentos para enriquecer la familia.
Las personas de la Comunidad de Blessed
Sacrament, en relación familiar con las personas de la comunidad de
San Marcos se nutren unos a otros gracias al compartir de sus
culturas, y crecen juntos en Cristo a través de oraciones y apoyo
mutuo. Al compartir de sus alegrías y tristezas, sus luchas y
triunfos, las dos comunidades se unen.
Tenemos mucho que podemos aprender, los unos de
los otros; el valor de la familia, la celebración de nuestras
diferencias, y una nueva visión de la fe en nuestra iglesia
universal.
En nuestra relación con la gente de Gracias
hemos atestiguado la pasión con que siguen al evangelio; su
convencimiento decidida que les permite alcanzar más allá de sus
dificultades; la alegría y la dignidad que vienen de su
conocimiento que son hijos de Dios.
Nosotros, a la vez proveemos una comunidad que
camina con ellos en amistad y solidaridad, y que puede ayudarles en
su misión de proclamar, enseñar y vivir la palabra de Dios.
Oración de la Parroquia Hermana
Querido Dios, Creador, Redentor y Sanctificador
de todas personas, nosotros los miembros de la Comunidad Católica
de Blessed Sacrament en Alexandria, Virginia y de la parroquia de
San Marcos en Gracias, Lempira, Honduras, deseamos darle gloria y
honor en todo lo que somos y todo lo que hacemos.
En el nombre de Jesús, su Hijo crucificado y aún
resucitado, le pedimos un derrame especial de su Espíritu Santo
sobre nuestras dos comunidades de manera que séamos una fuente de
inspiración, los unos para los otros y una luz en los dos mundos
diferentes en que vivimos.
Otórguenos el don de una fe que va
profundizandose y corazones de compasión y generosidad. Otórguenos
la fuerza para caminar en el resplandor de Jesús, por medio de la
oscuridad y el dolor de nuestra privación e injusticia.
Conceda que podamos regocijar como comunidades de
la iglesia en hermandad, y que juntas podamos proclamar a todo el
vea u oiga que ¡JESÚS CRISTO ES NUESTRO SEÑOR! Amen
