1. Parish Mission Trip to Nicaragua - Join fellow parishioners August 18-23 as we experience Fr. Wasson’s homes for orphaned & abandoned children at Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos (NPH). NPH houses 312 children at Casa Asis on the shore of Lake Nicaragua and Casa Santiago on Ometepe Island, featuring a school, clinic, chapel, farm, orchards and workshops. This home is being moved due to nearby volcanic activity and is in great need of our support! Contact J_Vergne@yahoo.com for more information on price & fares, etc., or to register. First come, first served, until a team of 25 is full.

2.  Pentecost Concert - A Celebration of the Holy Spirit!  Join us on Friday, May, 9, 2008, at 8 p.m. for a concert of our adult choir, the Bells of Blessed Sacrament and the Blessed Sacrament Festival Orchestra.  Magnificat by John Rutter and Veni, Creator Spiritus by Carl Johengen will be performed.

3.  Honor the Past - Secure the Future - On Saturday, May 3, following 5:00 p.m. Mass, Father Cregan invites all to enjoy refreshments at a special reception to announce the creation of the Msgr. Martin T. Quinn School Endowment. Join us to learn more about the establishment of this lasting legacy.

5.  Pope released new encyclical - SPE SALVI facti sumus”—in hope we were saved, says Saint Paul to the Romans, and likewise to us (Rom 8:24). According to the Christian faith, “redemption”—salvation—is not simply a given. Redemption is offered to us in the sense that we have been given hope, trustworthy hope, by virtue of which we can face our present: the present, even if it is arduous, can be lived and accepted if it leads towards a goal, if we can be sure of this goal, and if this goal is great enough to justify the effort of the journey. Now the question immediately arises: what sort of hope could ever justify the statement that, on the basis of that hope and simply because it exists, we are redeemed?
