Blessed Sacrament Grade School and Early Childhood Center offers a Band Program for students in Grades 4-8 through the Garwood Whaley Music Program, the official program of instrumental music instruction for the Diocese of Arlington Schools. Classes for woodwind, brass and percussion students are provided once a week during regular school hours. The Advanced Band (Grades 5-8) and Beginning Band (Grade 4) perform two concerts throughout the year. The Advanced Band participates in the annual Diocesan Band Festival. Why Join the Blessed Sacrament Band? Learning how to play an instrument requires patience, discipline, and the development of many mental and physical skills which can be applied to other areas. Band students also learn invaluable lessons about cooperating with others. We hope to give our Band students the chance to discover their talent in music and develop this talent to a high level of achievement, all while having FUN!
Blessed Sacrament School has been blessed with a fine Band Program for many years. Our long-time Band Director, Mrs. Linda Moore, retired at the end of the 2008-2009 school year, and we welcome our new Band Director, Ms. Laura Scheidt.
